Kindergarten Pîya Kreuzberg

In our lovingly designed kindergarten Pîya in the heart of Kreuzberg, we look after a total of 45 children from the age of one until they start school. We welcome children from diverse backgrounds and every family is a valuable part of our community.

Our educational approach and rooms

Our educational work is based on the Berlin Education Program and the Early Excellence approach, which focuses on the resource-oriented development of each individual child. The focus here is on your child: they should develop their personality through play, exploration and experimentation and get to know their needs, interests and abilities.

We pay particular attention to open work and an open room concept. There are five educational rooms in our kindergarten, with one room being used specifically for 11 crèche children in a separate area. The other four rooms are available to the elementary children, who can decide for themselves which activities they would like to take part in.

In addition to a barrier-free toilet, the children have access to a large sanitary room where they also have the opportunity to experiment with water and learn through play.

In our lovingly designed kindergarten Pîya in the heart of Kreuzberg, we look after a total of 45 children from the age of one until they start school. Children from diverse backgrounds are very welcome here and every family is welcome. 

We also have a spacious green area with a water feature, which is located around 700 meters from the facility and is used for a variety of activities. Here, the children learn how to plant, water and harvest, allowing them to develop a direct relationship with nature and the environment.

Bilingual concept

“Language is the key to the world” - following this motto, our bilingual concept is of great importance. We work according to the principle of “one person - one language”. We implement this principle through the immersion model, supported by our dedicated German and Kurdish specialist staff. This means that the children are guided through all activities in both languages and immerse themselves in the German and Kurdish languages through play.

Interculturality and diversity

Our bilingual concept offers us an excellent opportunity to actively live and promote interculturality. Our team is itself diverse and intercultural and lives these values in our daily work. In this way, we provide the children with a living example of respectful interaction with different cultures and languages. We create an environment in which this diversity is not only respected, but actively lived.

We pay particular attention to our children's books. All books and other materials we use for the children are carefully analyzed to ensure that they offer non-discriminatory and prejudice-conscious content. To further strengthen our ability to recognize and promote diversity, we regularly take part in training courses on this topic.

We teach our children to appreciate diversity and to find their way in a multicultural society. This approach prepares them to act openly and tolerantly in a globalized world.

Preparation for school

One year before the children start school, we offer a special pre-school program. Here, the children are optimally prepared for the start of school with language and number games as well as concentration and fine motor exercises. Our educational specialists ensure that each child receives individual support and has a good start to school.

Healthy nutrition

At our Pîya kindergarten, two chefs provide a healthy and balanced breakfast, lunch and snack every day that meets the quality standards of the German Nutrition Society. Our cook is a qualified nutrition ambassador and regularly attends training courses on healthy eating. This ensures that our food is always up to date with the latest nutritional science and that your children can enjoy delicious and nutritious meals.
