Yekmal Academy
The “Yekmal Academy for Language, Education and Research” (Yekmal Academy for short) is a research and educational institute active in the fields of language and education. It was founded in 2019 as part of Yekmal e.V. Since 2024, the Yekmal Academy has been a gGmbH and conducts research on various aspects of language and education with transdisciplinary perspectives and methods and offers various specialist offers and professional services in the areas of multilingualism, certification of language skills, material development, further training of teachers and educators in relation to multilingualism, language courses and translation services.
In detail:
- the Academy conducts academic research on various aspects of multilingualism with a particular focus on the Kurdish language(s), society(ies) and culture(s) in Germany and abroad;
- organizes language examinations in Kurdish according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
- develops and publishes educational materials in the form of course books, picture books and dictionaries both online and in paper form
- organizes symposia and seminars on various aspects of language and education
- offers Kurdish language courses;
- organizes professional seminars and workshops for the professional development of teachers and educators in the field of multilingualism and the academic development level of children and students with migrant background;
- Cooperates with academic institutions and researchers in research projects and scientific collaboration
- Informs policy and public institutions on the basis of scientific findings with the aim of developing and implementing linguistically and culturally relevant services
- and finally offers professional translation services in Kurdish and German.
