Language has an effect. Values and attitudes are conveyed through language. Belonging and exclusion are defined, produced and reproduced. Social realities are shaped. Language is also an effective means to resist discrimination and exclusion.
On February 21, 2023, Yekmal- Verein der Eltern aus Kurdistan in Deutschland e. V. invites you to the annual symposium to address interactions of language and power from multidimensional perspectives.
Who is heard - who remains speechless? How is language used as an instrument of power? How can linguistic empowerment contribute to changing social realities? These questions will be explored from interdisciplinary perspectives: Educational, linguistic, sociological, and cultural studies.
The symposium "Language and Power" will take place online.
