Unaccompanied minor refugees

As an initial reception center for refugee children, Yekmal e.V. Berlin has been offering comprehensive support and guidance since December 2022. Our work begins as soon as the underage refugees aged 6 to 14 arrive in Germany. At Yekmal e.V.'s initial reception center, we offer a safe and supportive environment in which children and young people can take their first steps in a new country. Our aim is to help them settle into their new environment quickly and smoothly.

Our qualified team supports the young people in various areas:

• Initial orientation: We help the young people to find their way in their new environment and provide them with basic information about Germany and its society.
• Coordinating psychological support: Many of the children and young people have been through traumatic experiences. We work closely with specialized institutions and professionals to provide them with the necessary psychological support and advice.
• Language support: Learning German is crucial for integration. We offer language courses and other educational opportunities to support young people in this process.
• Social integration: We promote the social integration of young people through various activities and programs. We help them to make friends and get involved in the community.
• Sports support: We offer the children regular sports activities to promote their physical health, develop team spirit and provide them with positive leisure activities.
• Official support: We support the young people with official matters and help them to obtain the necessary documents and permits.
• Personal development: We attach great importance to promoting the individual strengths and abilities of young people and supporting them in their personal development.

Our facility offers young people a safe place where they can feel comfortable and protected. We work closely with various partners and institutions to offer young people the best possible support.
